Some Minor Hiccups

I've been an incredible slacker here lately, I was getting good at updating consistently (for about a week ;), then I went on vacation, and now my excuse is a total lack of proper time management. It has been in the upper 90's to 100's here and well I feel like I lose all motivation after work. I love to share updated photos in my posts, but my computer is hassling me (hiccup #1) and I have to reinstall the program, but when I'm on the computer I only feel like being online! Then there was the lovely bathroom incident which has led into an unexpected project (hiccup #2). We are hanging shelves,pretty much everywhere, and one I got a great deal on, a chrome train-rack style is what the box says, I was so-so on the idea, thought it was big, but when the price dropped from $40 to $10 I picked it up. So we took down the towel rack above the toilet (where I wanted the shelf) filled in the holes and held it on the wall so I could  find it's proper place. "Nope" I say, "it's too much for this wall, put it on the opposite wall" So we do. We take down the other towel rack, fill in the holes, drill holes for the new rack and hang it. I come into the bathroom. Ughh, I hate it, it is far too large for our small bathroom, take it down! And now we are left with no towel racks and lots of holes, time for the wainscoting I hadn't thought of going forward with anytime soon. And no more towel racks, just hooks!

Old glass bottles! I just love the way the light shines through the colored glass of these little beauties.And since I am doing my office/art studio/ scrap space in the colors of teal and purple they make a lovely additon to my decor. I have some old clear glass bottles that I found in the middle of nowwhere when I was a kid, and I've always admired glass bottles in thrift stores but I have never picked them up. When we were in Montana I visited some thrift and antique stores and decided to start my collection (obsession) since the vintage glass seemed plentiful.
With some recent purchases I have also begun amassing a vintage cookware and glassware collection, I will post pics of these later...-XO

Back from Montana

We've spent the past week in Montana, and I miss it already. I have family up there and it was so nice to spend time with them, its been twelve years since I was there. We went on a couple of hikes into the Bitterroot Mountains, we saw a couple of waterfalls and even a ghost town! I also browsed a few antique stores while we were there, scoring some old glass bottles for my little collection.

Not sure if I mentioned it in an earlier post or not but we painted Celeste's room purple. She said it's all shes ever wanted in her whole life!

Painted Ceiling

I've been thinking a lot about what I can do to spruce up my mid century kitchen. The cabinets have seen their day, unfortunately I cannot afford an upgrade at the moment. I know I am going to paint one whole wall with chalkboard paint because I've always wanted one. What I have been seeing a lot of lately is painted ceilings. I think this would work well in my kitchen because the cabinets are white and the tile floor is busy and blue. Hmmmm?

We're Thinking Butterfly

Celeste's sixth birthday is two months away, so I want to start planning something super cute for her. We were thinking butterflies... since we have a house and a backyard now I thought it would be nice to have a backyard BBQ. We usually go to a park, but having it at home leaves more room for food and decorating options! Oh, and did I mention my budget is minimal? Heres some cute things I found on Etsy

Welcome, Little One

My sister has welcomed her second daughter to the world yesterday, and I just wanted to share a picture of my precious niece.



Celeste had a "take your parent to school" day on Friday. She was so super excited to have me there. Only four parents from her class were there, so all the kids were super excited too, vying for my attention constantly. I painted her room purple today, a very pale lavendar she picked out. I will post a picture when all her furniture is back in place. -XO
