Ta-Da, I present the $1 chair

Celeste just loves it! Now I will have to keep my eye out for a super cute desk to go with it, and she will have her own special place to do her home work.

Paint Paint Paint

Painting for what seems like the whole day, umm because it has. I am painting a thrifted table and my $1 chair I mentioned in an earlier post. These are the before pics. Both are currently dissassembled in the garage and drying. Hopefully I can get them together and have the after pics up tomorrow- XO

Another Opportunity

A while back I found this Morrocan inspired metal plant stand. I passed up on it because I was broke and couldn't justify spending on an unnecessary item. A month or so passes and I am once again with spending cash, but the plant stand is no where. I checked all the stores in the area, and I found one, but it was white, and much more expensive than the one I had found initially. Then, yesterday, I found it again. Yay! And, at about $5 less! It matchs the other metals in my dining room and fills the empty corner space perfectly! I also scored another vintage find today, a singer desk chair for $1. I want to paint it this weekend and I will use it in Celeste's room so I have somewhere to sit and read to her each night. (the bigger she gets the harder it is for both of us to squeeze into her bed) -XO

Coming Along

We've been working on getting our laundry room together all weekend, and it's almost done! It's not really a laundry room per say, rather a closet turned into a laundry "space". It's wider than a washing machine, but not wide enough to fit a dryer next to it. It's plumbed and vented, but lacked the 220v plug for a dryer. So, since we lacked funds for an electrician and stacking washer and dryer, we have been carting our cold wet laundry across the house and into the garage.
And not anymore! We have electricity, the stacking washer and dryer, and we have knocked out a section of wall to make the most of our laundry space. We painted it this awesome turquoise that I absolutely adore. Just some finishing touches to go over and I will be sharing my transformation pics, because I'm sure the before and after photo is far more entertaining than my story! -XO

Bake Sale!

We're having a bake sale for the Children's Miracle Network at work tomorrow, and I have stayed up too late baking these little cuties. All the while I have a jumping five year old saying "Is it time to make the whipped cream yet? Can I lick the beater yet? Can I try one?" I'm tired-XO

This is why...

This is why I love being a Mom to such a sweet little girl. She is so wonderfully artistic and I absolutely adore that she can share this passion with me. Whenever I am creating something, she is by my side making something of her own. Yesterday, she made me a bookmark out of a popsicle stick and a scrapbook embellishment. I thought it was incredibly creative for her to think of this, and I am so excited to see what she comes up with next.

30 Minute Challenge

I guess you could say I gave myself my own little challenge today. I have wanted to do a layout since the spring semester ended, and I had about thirty minutes to do it in, so I went for it! I'm happy with how it turned out, but I was noticing that the last three layouts I've done have been on Kraft! I think I need to diversify...-XO

No More Trimp!

We made shrimp salad for dinner. Celeste still calls shrimp "trimp" and she wasn't havin' any of our "trimp" dinner. It is so funny to watch her vocabulary evolve. Like Hannah Montana used to be Hannah Bontana, or how desert used to be, and occasionaly still is, besert. Everyday that passes she loses more and more of her baby tendencies. She is just a short month away from kindergarten graduation, and I'm just a moommy wishin' I could hold onto my baby a little longer...-XO

No Luck at the Garage Sale

Massive amounts of garage sales this morning having me slightly toasted and totally tired. Was sort of a waste as well, we went everywhere from the nicest neighborhoods, to storage units, to the flea market. The only thing I came home with was a vintage globe for Celeste. She is going to love it, she really enjoys looking at the world and asking about the different places. I was on a mission for a push mower, and anything that crossed my eye, but nobody had anything I would want. Crazy, huh? Classes are over for this semester, so I want to have some pictures printed so I can get back to my favorite hobby, scrapping pics of my little girl!- XO

Happy Mother's Day!

Just wanted to take a moment to say happy Mother's Day to all you mommies out there. We are truly blessed but also have made many sacrifices for our children, and we wouldn't have any other way. We are so awesome! We took a trip to Ikea last weekend. I love love love that place! I wanted to share some pictures of what we've done lately. I love having a new bed, and I got the duvet cover from Ikea along with the paper lantern lamp, it casts a lovely and flattering glow. The cube shelf is also from Ikea at an amazing $99, it is in my office. I want to eventually find some pretty storage boxes to hide some of the clutter, but for now it is functional. -XO
